A year ago, Russia carried out a brutal full-scale invasion of Ukraine. This day changed Ukrainians’ lives and showed the world the true face of the aggressor country. Despite our country's challenges and losses, we have shown incredible bravery and resilience. We have not broken down and relentlessly continue to fight for our Independence. The price of our Victory and Freedom is very high. We will never forget the fallen soldiers and civilians in this brutal war.

The war caused significant damage to our economy. Russian attacks have hit businesses, and many struggle to survive in war conditions. According to a study by the Kyiv School of Economics, Ukrainian companies suffered a loss of $13 billion—direct losses due to Russian aggression. Total indirect losses of Ukrainian companies reach $33.1 billion. And the necessary amount for the enterprises’ restoration is $24.9 billion.

$9 billion out of $13 billion are the losses of large and medium enterprises. At least 109 large and medium enterprises suffered direct losses. 19 of them were completely destroyed, and another 90 were partially damaged.

Despite such challenges, UNIC members continued to work and adapt to the new war conditions and constantly supported the army and the civilian population. Many employees of our members-companies have taken up arms and gone to war, while others are actively involved in volunteer initiatives. Caring for employees, their families, and the communities where the company is located, transparency in relations with partners,  integrity, and courage to stop any cooperation with the aggressor country are about integrity in war conditions. Integrity and business ethics are the values that should be fundamental for reconstruction in Ukraine. This is something around which the business is ready to unite to continue working and bring our Victory closer every day.

On this anniversary, UNIC honors the memory of those who gave their lives for our Freedom and continue to work for Ukraine's peaceful and prosperous future.
