We continue to share recommendations on verification candidates for positions vulnerable to corruption risks. Today, we will talk about those responsible and the organization of the verification process.

Usually, the organization of candidate verification in companies is carried out by persons responsible for preventing and detecting corruption - anti-corruption officers or compliance officers (authorized persons). This function may be delegated to other officials, such as the legal or HR department in smaller companies.

The commissioners shall cooperate with the company's HR department to implement candidate screening measures. Such cooperation should be provided in the Verification Procedure and include a clear action algorithm.

Suppose the candidate meets all the necessary requirements and receives the support of the head of the structural unit in which they are applying for the position. In that case, the responsible employee shall submit the necessary data for verification to the authorized person.

The Procedure should provide for a time limit for data transfer - usually 3 working days after confirmation of the appointment possibility.

The Commissioner verifies the submitted documents and information by comparing them with the information found about the candidate. The verification is carried out within the law and with the help of publicly available sources, state registers, and public or private databases permitted by law.

For verification purposes, the commissioner is advised to communicate with colleagues, partners, and other persons from the candidate's previous workplace. Such interviews can be combined with a search for information in open sources.

After the verification, the commissioner prepares a written report for the company's CEO on the presence or absence of corruption risks in the candidates.
