UNIC assisted in raising awareness of the newly created authorized units (persons) for corruption prevention and detection in the Territorial Defence Forces
UNIC organized training for those responsible for detecting and preventing corruption in one of the Kyiv TDF brigades, which, as of 1 January 2022, in accordance with the amendments to the Law of Ukraine "On Corruption Prevention,” became responsible for organizing and implementing measures to prevent and detect corruption.
It was introductory training sessions for the anti-corruption units of the TDFs on their status and powers, as well as on the restrictions and requirements stipulated by the Law of Ukraine "On Corruption Prevention" applicable to such units. In particular, the experts spoke about legal restrictions on the use of official powers or positions, receipt of gifts and undue benefits, combining work and other activities, joint work of close relatives, as well as requirements for preventing and resolving conflicts of interest, whistleblower protection, etc.
Currently, there is a need for training and explanations for such anti-corruption units (persons) of the TDFs to ensure proper and effective implementation of their functions. That is why the speakers of the induction training were independent anti-corruption experts specializing in corruption prevention in the public sector, Roman Hekaliuk and Andriy Smaha, as well as Vadym Pryimak, a specialist in the anti-corruption mechanisms implementation in the defense sector.
It is expected that after such training, the anti-corruption unit representatives of the TDFs will continue to study independently, using the products and tools developed by UNIC for this purpose.
