On September 27, 2024, in Kyiv, a public discussion of the draft model Integrity Code, initiated by the National Agency on Corruption Prevention, took place with the support of the UNODC Programme Office in Ukraine, UNIC, and the Foundation for Institutional Development - FID. The event brought together representatives from business, government bodies, and experts in ethics and compliance who are actively contributing to the formation of a corporate culture of transparency and responsibility in Ukraine.

The State Anti-Corruption Program (SAP), to which the Network once contributed, provides for the creation of tools for the private sector aimed at combating tolerance for corruption. In particular, as part of SAP implementation, the NACP, with the support of UNODC and expertise from UNIC, has prepared this draft model Integrity Code.

Glib Bakalov, Chairman of the UNIC Executive Committee, directly contributed to the preparation of the model Code as a UNODC expert. During the presentation, Gleb, along with representatives from Nestle and Continental Farmers Group, participated in a discussion on "The Role of the Integrity Code in Shaping the Corporate Culture of an Organization," which took place as part of the Code presentation.

This document aims to formalize corporate values and ethical standards that will promote the formation of a culture of integrity and responsibility within companies.

We at UNIC are very pleased that the NACP has considered the Network's contributions and approaches in the development of this document. As a result, businesses will receive a universal tool that can be easily adapted to the needs, size, and functional characteristics of a particular company. It is also important to emphasize that the Code will contribute to the formation of corporate culture only when the company makes an effort to adapt it to its own values and needs, top management demonstrates a "tone from the top" of ethical behavior in everyday activities, and company employees are engaged and encouraged to participate in training on the application of the Code's provisions.

During the discussion, business representatives provided additional comments on the draft Code, and accordingly, the developers will continue to refine the document. The UNIC expert group is also working on proposals to improve its text.
