Ukrainian Network of Integrity and Compliance (UNIC) and JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia” signed an additional agreement to the Memorandum of Partnership. With this agreement, UNIC and Ukrzaliznytsia renew cooperation in promoting the idea of ethical and responsible business conduct, strengthening the transparency of the Company's activities, and fighting corruption.

At the same time, the parties also updated the plan of activities for 2024-2025, necessary to prepare JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia” for membership in the Ukrainian Network of Integrity and Compliance.

In particular, this plan provides for the creation and conduct of educational trainings, as well as the development and implementation of quite specific internal regulatory acts.

"We renewed the partnership with UNIC and agreed on a very clear, comprehensive plan of measures aimed at building a culture of integrity and implementing the best international practices of anti-corruption activities. This is another important practical step on the way to establishing effective interaction between Ukrzaliznytsia and key stakeholders in the field of integrity and compliance," said Yevhen Lyashchenko, Chairman of the Board of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia.

The Chairman of the Executive Committee of UNIC, Glib Bakalov, noted that the partnership with Ukrzaliznytsia is fundamental for integrating the principles of integrity into the basis of Ukrainian business at all levels: "Ukrzaliznytsia is the largest strategic enterprise of Ukraine, which has a significant impact on the country's economy, therefore it is especially important for UNIC to renew partnership and promote management in the implementation of high ethical standards when conducting business. The personal involvement of the chairman of the board in the process of resuming cooperation with UNIC shows the importance of issues of integrity and compliance for the top management of Ukrzaliznytsia. This is evidence that the Memorandum of Partnership and the corresponding plan of measures to improve the anti-corruption infrastructure will be successfully implemented, and I hope that the Society will become a full member of the UNIC Network."

The Head of the UNIC Secretariat, Antonina Prudko, emphasized that the update of the Memorandum is only the first step of JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia” in building an effective compliance system and implementing effective practices of business integrity. "It won't be easy, but UNIC as a collective action initiative is ready to help and support Ukrzaliznytsia on this path. We believe that the implementation of practical measures of the plan will reduce corruption risks and strengthen the culture of business integrity within the enterprise, which will benefit both employees and passengers of Ukrzaliznytsia, as well as the state as a whole,” concluded Antonina Prudko.

UNIC sincerely congratulates Ukrzaliznytsia and invites us to work together on strengthening the culture of business integrity of Ukrainian business!
