# Meet UNIC member Kernel
By [UNIC Team](https://unic.org.ua/en/blog/author/unic-team) , Sep 30, 2024
We continue to introduce you to the participants of UNIC as part of [#UNICue\_business](https://www.linkedin.com/feed/hashtag/?keywords=unicue_business&highlightedUpdateUrns=urn%3Ali%3Aactivity%3A7246522087597559808), and today it's [KERNEL](https://www.linkedin.com/company/kernel-ua/)'s turn!
Kernel is a global leader in sunflower oil production and export, as well as the largest producer and exporter of cereals in Ukraine.
The company contributes about 8% to the world’s sunflower oil exports, supplying products to more than 70 countries, and employs over 11,000 people across 12 regions of Ukraine.
Following the outbreak of the full-scale war, Kernel introduced a Sanctions Policy, prohibiting any cooperation with the Russian Federation.
From the first days of the war, Kernel has consistently supported select brigades of the Armed Forces, with total contributions for military and civilian aid exceeding 2.7 billion hryvnias. This support includes not only protective gear but also advanced technology and vehicles. Additionally, Kernel employees participate in the "Corporate Volunteer" project, providing further assistance.
Today, Kernel employs over 90 veterans. Since 2022, the company has emphasized inclusion, creating an adaptation system involving 400+ employees and providing comprehensive support for veterans returning to work.
Kernel also conducts educational webinars for its employees, including the "Anti-corruption" video course from the UN Global Compact. Moreover, the company launched the "School for Counterparties," which spreads knowledge about compliance, fosters market development, and assists other companies eager for change. Compliance is now a core responsibility for every Kernel employee, regardless of their role.
"For Kernel, being a member of the UNIC community expands our reach in providing assistance and enhances our capabilities in compliance risk management," says the company.
UNIC sincerely thanks Kernel for its professionalism and significant contribution to promoting transparent business and strengthening integrity in Ukraine. Your responsible business practices not only build market trust but also inspire other companies to pursue sustainable development and positive change.
