# The Mind Entrepreneur Summit took place in Kyiv

On April 19, the largest conference for small and medium-sized businesses took place at the “Pochayna” event hall.
The event, designed to provide Ukrainian entrepreneurs with insights and practical advice, brought together several hundred guests, over 50 speakers, and dozens of businesses that had the opportunity to showcase themselves at the craft fair, on the networking stage, and among the projects pitching to potential investors and partners.
The Mind Entrepreneur Summit’s Main Stage hosted panel discussions and presentations by expert guests. Among the speakers, the following topics were addressed in particular:
Business Financing
“International programs offering preferential loans and grants are operating successfully in Ukraine. To access them, you simply need to contact a bank that collaborates with foreign partners and secure financing. It is provided on favorable terms and takes into account all the ‘pain points’ faced by entrepreneurs operating during wartime.” In particular, as part of its collaboration with the USAID “Investments for Business Resilience” Project, OTP Bank supports micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises in Ukraine in four key areas: relocated businesses, businesses affected by hostilities, agribusiness, and women in business.”

The Return of Veterans
“The return of veterans to their communities and support for military families are key. Based on my experience interacting with veterans and service members—of whom there are currently thousands in communities—not all veterans are ready to return as salaried employees. Therefore, loan and grant programs specifically for defenders are currently in high demand.”

Ukraine’s Export Sectors
“As of now, the Ukrainian IT sector accounts for approximately 5% of Ukraine’s GDP and is the country’s second-largest export sector: we generate 40% of service exports and bring in significant foreign exchange earnings to Ukraine. We provide stability.”

The Transition to Ukrainian Software
“Not every accountant is skilled enough to switch from one software product to another. We see that most accountants are tied to the tool rather than the process.”

And a few words about Russian software in Ukraine
“We urge everyone to stop using Russian software. We understand that there are alternatives on the market and opportunities for the transition; most importantly, we hope the companies represented here will be the ones to spread this message.”

And also on entering foreign markets
“There are countries that are no longer developing—for example, European countries: they’re already developed, and a certain stagnation is taking place. Developing countries include Saudi Arabia and the UAE. If we compare them, Saudi Arabia is the more attractive market.”

The “Practical Session,” as its name suggests, was dedicated to everyday but pressing issues.
Pavlo Guzir, head of alternative sales channels at OTP Bank, spoke about raising funds for the agricultural sector. According to him, in 2023 the bank provided 1.1 billion UAH in financing for the planting season, and this year it granted 600 million UAH in new loans to SMEs in the agricultural sector. He noted that the bank is the market leader in working with agricultural financial receipts, and the foundation of this success is the “AgroFabrika” scoring project, which simplifies access to bank loans for agricultural producers and offers numerous partnership programs with leading manufacturers of seeds, fertilizers, and plant protection products.
His colleague from OTP Bank, Oleksandr Rasakhatskyi, Head of Customer Experience Management, shared his experience with customer experience and customer values, which are prioritized when developing and supporting all banking products and services, regardless of the customer type—whether an individual, an entrepreneur, a large corporate client, or others.
“Conduct regular surveys after a customer makes a purchase, signs up for a service, installs an app, and so on. It’s like getting a regular blood test to check your health. Check-ups are also important—comprehensive studies, particularly regarding the NPS (Net Promoter Score)—the customer loyalty index. If you need to solve a business problem, visualize the customer experience—for example, create a customer journey map: step-by-step illustrations of the path your customer takes,” advised Oleksandr.
Lyudmila Slobodyanik, Chief Compliance Officer and Director of the Compliance Department at Raiffeisen Bank, explained the procedure for opening accounts to conduct business abroad.
“Given that banking legislation in Ukraine is harmonized with the requirements of EU directives and international organizations, the process of opening accounts for business abroad will not be new. European banks require clients to transparently disclose their ownership structure, provide information about beneficial owners, state the purpose and nature of their activities, and provide confirmation of these facts. This may include signed contracts, the presence of staff, production facilities, premises, and the experience of executives in a specific business sector, among other things. “The procedure for opening accounts at banks in EU countries involves an interview with company executives or owners, which may vary depending on the country and the internal policies of the specific bank, and may result in a request for additional information—so businesses need to be prepared for this,” Lyudmila Slobodyanik shared from her experience.
According to her, Raiffeisen provides consulting services to its clients planning to enter international markets, including assistance with opening accounts at banks within the RBI Group.
