**A historic moment! The European Union countries granted Ukraine candidate status for EU membership.**
Granting the EU candidate status to Ukraine is a historic moment and an opportunity to make fundamental changes at all levels. We have no right to miss this chance because the price is too high!
Among the key requirements and expectations from the European Commission to Ukraine are the implementation of effective anti-corruption mechanisms and integrity culture development.
Implementing compliance and integrity business practices is the first and most urgent condition for the cooperation of Ukrainian business with the European world. Therefore, the opportunity to adapt to these rules before entering the European market is a privilege that Ukraine should take advantage of right now. Ukrainian leaders and experts expressed this general opinion during the discussion "Membership in the EU: To-do List for Ukrainian business" at the General Meeting of UNIC members 2022.
In particular, business ombudsman Roman Vashchuk noted: "After February 24, it will not be possible to continue deceiving the state and self-deception. Implementing and fully complying with European rules for all, including compliance, is a solution that many businesses in Ukraine have been waiting for, as it will give them the confidence they need for planning. ”
According to Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine Oleksandr Hryban, the European market is a huge opportunity for the Ukrainian manufacturer to expand its borders and reorient. And now there are unprecedented opportunities to make it accessible to Ukraine.
Lana Zerkal, an advisor to the Minister of Energy, from her side has emphasized that Ukraine is waiting for European rules". European legislation is for everyone and makes no exceptions. No European business will work without following integrity procedures and verification. But if you pass the verification process successfully, you have a huge potential in the European market. And the opportunity to adapt in Ukraine before entering the European markets is our privilege, which the European Union companies did not have. “it will not be as it was before, and we need to overcome all fears", summed up Lana Zerkal.
The Ukrainian Network of Integrity and Compliance (UNIC) can already offer Ukrainian businesses effective tools to assess and implement an effective compliance system. After all, an educational-expert platform has accumulated many different products in recent years, from compliance self-assessment to courses, comprehensive assessment programs, and compliance program development.
